Rattling Hydor Koralia......

I have been doing some research on how to fix this issue.....

I have come to the conclusion that the parts have to be pushed back snug. Also there is a good chance the rubber washer is missing.

As I have taken the koralia apart and not found this so called rubber washer, I was wondering if someone has a picture of the Koralia taken apart to show what the washer looks like and where it is supposed to go.

I am running the 1 Koralia with a wavemaker and cannot stand the rattling noise that it makes everytime the powerhead comes on.

Thank you in advance.

Have you tried to contact Koralia? I hear they have excellent costumer service and might send you the washer for free.

Are you referring to the rubber washer that allows you to adjust the height of the collection cup? If you, you'll definitely want to find one.

I ran the koralia nano skimmer in my biocube and did find that it was loud and a little "rattly". I'm currently running skimmerless.

I think he's talking about powerheads, not skimmers. I could be wrong.

Make sure the magnet on the impeller isn't cracked, that's always been our issue with rattling. We had to replace them. The rubber o-ring only goes around where the blades of the impeller are, if I remember correctly. Sorry I don't have any pics.

I apologize, I may have needed to mention I was referring to the powerhead.

The best thing about hydor pumps is that they are cheap. Toss it and get another. You can buy a new pump every year for 8 years before you pay for 1 vortech mp40. So if you cant fix it toss it dude

Yes I am speaking of the powerheads. The magnet is fine. I have not been able to find any rubber ring.

It's not really removable to my knowledge. My korali evo 1400 stopped working one day, and I took it apart and there was this rubber o ring that was left and I figured out it gets tucked inside the impeller shaft channel by the motor.

Once I put it back I haven't been able to remove it.

Just as I hit post, my boyfriend said we need to clean them LOL. He'll be gone all week, so it won't be until next weekend when we take them apart. I could be totally wrong about a rubber ring & confusing the vision of it in my mind with the return pump, though.

One of ours, you almost couldn't see the crack in the magnet, it was hairline. After a while it got worse. Probably originally caused because we cleaned it in muriatic acid LOL. We won't be cleaning the impellers that way again!
