Quarantine tank - next steps
All,
I have been cycling my quarantine tank for a week now. I threw in a piece of fish filet (skinned off of course) and took it out last night. While doing so, i noticed a lot of the filet have started to fall off causing it to float around in the tank. While cycling, should I remove the pieces by doing a water change? or leave it in there as its good for beneficial bacteria? |

Just leave it. It wont hurt anything. Just test the water for ammonia

You can do small water changes, I'd say 10% every other week while it's cycling.
Just don't do more than that, if you do then the cycling process will take a bit longer for the bacteria to populate. |

You can still test the tank but just leave it until nitrite and ammonia are at zero then do a 20% water change just top it off with freshwater while cycling.
