Please tell me my Long Tentacle Anemone will be OK!
Please take a look at my attached picture. I have had this LTA for 4 weeks now and the last week he has been shriveled up like this. Every once in awhile he pokes a tentacle or 2 out (like in the picture if you can't see it) but after a bit it goes back in. I know he is still alive but is he on his way out? What can I do? I have a 180 gal tank that has been in operation for 8 months now. All the water parameters are stable. I have a yellow tip anemone who is doing great. PH hovers at 8.0, salinity 1.022, temp 77.5. I am at a loss and any help/advice is appreciated.

Thanks for the quick reply! I have 4 AquaIllumination AI Sol's. I will get the sand in and create a corner for him. Regarding the bed it is not crushed coral but it is Seafloor Special Grade Reef Sand, is this not OK? I would never have put him in crushed coral.
Please let me know if you think I need to get some other sand. |

What should my salinity be? I have searched the internet and everyone has an opinion and none of them match.

You can always look up info and requirements like salinity range for your Anemone online.

125 to 126 for anemones.just don't top off as much a d it will slowly rise only way to do this.he needs sand badly to hide that foot and maybe heal if sick.make sure you start a little hole for it and stick foot in and cover the foot with a little sand he might be weak.get this done pronto do not use live sand!

It looks like its melting. I would remove that before it destroys your tank.

I agree. I would begin by raising the specific gravity to 1.025-1.026. 1.022, is reasonable for fish, but not for inverts & corals. Is there gaping at the mouth? It's quite difficult to decipher much from the photo provided. Typically, the anemone will find a spot that it prefers and bury its foot.

I think he is to weak to find one onhis own and she has a gravel substrate Wich is not good for ltas. They need nice soft sand to bury there foot and the pvc method works wonders trust me
