Over Feeding?
Is there a good way to tell, using a chemical test, to see if you are over feeding?
Should I test the Ammonia levels, would that be a good answer? |

No, ammonia in a mature tank should not rise even with overfeeding (unless you drop a whole container of food in the tank). Your nitrates and phosphates would be a better clue as to overfeeding. In general don't feed more than the fish can eat in one or two minutes.

algae .... if you have agae growth, you have nutrition Issues. one of the leading contributers to nutrition are feedings. [perhaos only one in most reef tanks]

general rule of feeding a tank is enough food that can be consumed with in 3 min.

You don't mention an algae problem. Do you have one ?
Until you get nitrate and phosphate testing kits, you might take a sample to the LFS...? |

Its better to feed less more often , like what they can eat in around 1 minute 3 times a days.
Overfeeding leads to many problems. |

Does it also depend on type of food? Dry or frozen?
