Whats the TDS of your tap water and whats the TDS coming out of your house RO/DI?
If your TDS is good I don't see why your couldn't use it. |

I agree exactly with cobra. It's really all about the rejection rate of the membrane. For cooking, you might not care if it's 94-96% rejection. You might not even check it regularly. However, the difference between that and a 98+% rejection membrane will make a very big difference when it comes to your DI usage. I would recommend you test your membrane's rejection rate and then either just add DI, or just replace the membrane if the rejection rate is low. Either way, it will be cheaper than buying a whole new unit and maintaining two separate RO units.

^^ this. Most house units are only RO as there is mixed reviews on drinking DI water.

DI water is generaly considered unsafe to drink so I would assume your unit is RO without a DI stage. This being said I have used non DI RO water in my reef for years

If it has a tank, you shouldn't feed water from the tank through the DI. My RO has a tank. The TDS out bypassing the tank is ~5 (400+ in). The TDS from the RO water out of the tank is about 100 as it picks up stuff in the tank.
