12000 K Question

I always used 10000 K Daylight and may purchase a fixture with 12000k , any feedback about reef use?

I ran 10000k in my fixture since the day I set up my lights. I also didn't know any better. I recently switched to a 15000k and the difference is incredible. even switching to 12000k makes a noticible difference. the higher the Kelvin, the more blue spectrum and less of the reds and yellows. the color you see in the tank will be bluer and you will, in my opinion get better color out of your corals

I think it depends on the actual bulb and how it interacts with the fixture. running a 150mh on my tank, I went away from the phoenix 14000K to a 10000K hamilton...the hamilton is absolutely beautiful and pure white with a hint of blue(my corals and fish pop in the natural light and their luminous glow is still there)...the light that came with the fixture was a corallife 14000K and interesting enough that light was more yellow than the 10000K hamilton and not near as blue as the phoenix. so essentially one 10000k is not equivalent to another and may be more pure white or blue than another's rated at a higher K even.

i just got done reading how a lower kelvin bulb say 10k is better for growth, while a higher k bulb is for visual appeal mostly
