Flow Issues

I currently have a MarineLand Corner flow tank that unfortunately has the returns right next to the overflow. I used to have a single Koralia 1050 pump on the right side of the aquarium.

Over the weekend, I moved the Koralia to the other side of the tank and installed a Vortech MP10wES in its place running at 50% speed on reef crest. Since then, it seems as though my Hammer coral is getting too much flow caused by the Koralia even though it's pointed up and towards the back of the tank.

It has receded a good bit since I added the other pump.

I'm also getting a build up on the surface of the water because the Koralia is over powering the flow of the Vortech. I guess the Vortech is more of a wide angle pump and the Koralia is more of a stream of flow.

Any thoughts on how to do this so my LPS (Hammer + Galaxy) and my new SPS (Stylophora frag) will all be happy?

Here is a picture of the tank if that helps (Just ignore the picture behind the tank yet that I haven't relocated yet. )

Hi spyderturbo007, my suggestion from reading what you posted would be to take the korallia out and put it away because theres to much flow in the tank and also because its a straight stream pump, I would just leave the vortech in because its flow is dispersed in all areas and is better than direct flow. To make it simple, one of the pumps have to go, hope this helps...

So on MP10wES is enough flow for a 55g with both LPS and SPS? I thought you needed more flow than what the MP10 can provide. Or is it because they provide different types of flow? Do I need another MP10?

One more mp10 and you should be good, flow being dispersed in all stagnant areas good luck spyderturbo...sps gonna love the wild flow coming from all areas!
