Metal products?

I would like to get one of those long back scratcher to reach the bottom of my tank but they are made of metal, are these safe to use? thanks

i would be very hesitant in putting anything metal (non reef safe) in my tank. eventually it will rust and leech something in the tank. just my opinion.
they do make reef safe plastic stuff for same reasons.

As long as you keep the blade clean you should be fine. Most scrapers come apart easily to replace the blades. If you see it starting to show signs of rust, just replace it.

Just keep in mind that what you are talking about is a razor scraper, stay away from the silicone sealant in the corners. It will work fine just rinse it with fresh water after every use and don't store it with the blade installed.

Wow I've never used a back scratcher w/ a razor blade attached! I would imagine that would be quite uncomfortable.

Those metal back scratchers are cheap alloy and will rust in no time, but they do make the flimsey plastic ones, not sure if that is strong enough for you, but I would assume you are wanting to move substrate right? Well it might work and they do make little rakes just for that purpose, I have a 28" one I think I got on Amazon, maybe somewhere on Ebay. Had so long now I don't really remember.

Yea I just want something for moving the sand and If I need to pick a dead snail, back scratcher has a rake. I looked into plastic but couldn't find long enough. Will look again. Also, I'm thinking of a 24" long tweezer, that might be little better.

I wouldn't worry about it... keep it clean, don't leave it in the water. If you see signs of rust don't use.

I'm just dont like dipping my whole arm just to right a snail. Ill just buy a rigid tubing.

We have this one. It telescopes pretty long and has a rake, blade and scrubber attachment. I've seen it other places as well.
