Vortech powerheads and controller question

I'm having trouble understanding the vortech wireless function and how it interfaces with / compares to controlling powerheads with say a Neptune Apex. If I buy a non-wireless Vortech, would I still be able to control it with the Apex? Do you even need the wireless capability on the powerheads if using a controller?

Basically I want to know if I can save some money by buying non-wireless vortechs since I will using an Apex.

Only the wireless version of the vortech's work with the apex and you still have to get the wireless module from Apex to control them.
