Anenome... Help

Help... My husbands anonome moved off of its rock to the Side of the live rock it is on. We just added a Hal light I've been left to adjust ( he's the hobbyist but now deployed). All the chemicals seem to be good the calcium is a bit low but my next water exchange won't be till Tuesday.

My main question is should I move the rock so it's pointing up its a large one so its on the side all the way down to the sand.

Any suggestions welcome!

Let him be, the anemone will move to where it is most comfortable. If it doesn't ever seem to stop moving then there is likely something wrong with parameters or the Hal light?

Do you mean Halide or metal halide light?

If this is a new light source thats been added to the tank it is likely moving because of it. Shorten your light cycle with the halide and slowly increase it over the next couple weeks so that the anemone and corals can acclimate to the new lighting.

How much deeper would the ocean be if it didn't have sponges?

That's the problem with anenomes, they have their own plans sometimes. If you move him, he will likely move again on his own.

Metal Halide (MH) are a pretty intense light.

If this is a new type of lighting all together on the tank you need to acclimate the tank over a couple weeks, this can be done by having the MH on for only a short period of time and then slowly increasing this time. Or if possible raising the light further away from the surface of the tank and slowly lowering it or a combination of both.

If this is the type of lighting you've always had and you just changed the bulb, then a shorter acclimation period would be necessary.
