white stick looking thing growing from a frag plug

Hi guys, I recently got a red mushroom from a fellow reefer, and it's been a few weeks since I've got it. The mushroom is doing fine, but I noticed that there's a white stick or something along those lines growing from the frag plug and now it's poking at the mushroom. Anyone have any idea what this is?

Could be a sponge growing. A pic would help ID a lot.

Might be a vermatid snail, look here:
