Confused
as to the difference of LPS and Soft corals. Is there a basic rule of thumb. Like all LPS have skeletons?

The breakdown of their name is the best way to describe it, LPS= large polyp stony (has skeleton), SPS= small polyp stony and soft corals typically are just that, soft tissue.

IMO, newbies should start with softies or leathers and work toward LPS. SPS are extremely demanding and for a newbie, could wreck the experience of the hobby from the get go. I hard a real hard time with my SPS and wound up giving in. Just my two cents.
