Coralife BioCube 29

I am going to be moving soon and I really need to downsize my aquarium as I will not be able to commit as much time to my larger aquarium as I would like. I have been looking for some good deals on the new Coralife BioCube 29 but have not seen any Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals for this aquarium.

I saw that on drfostersmith.com the have it on sale for $231.99 as opposed to the normal $299.99 but the item is on backorder and won't be back in stock until 12/17/2012.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a site/store that is selling this aquarium at a good discounted price. I don't mind paying full price but if I can save money that is always a good thing. There is a site that has a 10% discount on all items which would save me $30 total on this but I seemed to have misplaced the URL so I am searching for that as well as other good prices.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I apologize for making a Black Friday/Cyber Monday thread but I'm sure other people new to reefing wouldn't mind finding some good deals on a nice aquarium.

I set up a biocube for my wife... just a note here... in 25 years I never committed more time to an aquarium than with that tank.
anyways, If you can I would go for a small reef ready cube with a real sump and real room for a good skimmer... that will be an easy tank to run.

A Biocube is easy to run. You just need the right setup. Biocube, skimmer and ato. Thats all you need and weekly 5 gallon water changes. I dont see how it could be that difficult.

My BC is super easy to maintain. I don't know what you guys are talking about. Change the water once a week, purigen and CPE ever couple of months, and I have all kinds of corals thriving. Phos stays around 0.05, no algae, and I feed heavy. No skimmer either

I don't know, seems like a mixed bag to me honestly in regards to the comment about maintaining the cubes. It depends I think on personal time committed to it, daily routine, stocking, and overall husbandry We have two in our house both retro fitted with LED's. My son's tends to be a bit heavier on the alge on glass compared to mine and I think it may be due to stocking. He has 1 extra fish (a goby) and 1 extra shrimp (peppermint). Coral we are about the same as with live rock, etc. I have a deeper sandbed and he has a Rose Bubble Tip that is rather large and I don't.

The most difficult thing I think about the bio-cubes or smaller tanks is the evaperation issue. Less total volume means you have less room for error in regards to water management and specific gravity. That was our biggest issue for the longest time. In fact, I'm strongly considering drilling both of ours and adding a over-flow/return. Make a quick stand and shove a 25 gallon container under it. Make water changes a breeze this way and make water management 10x easier.

But overall cubes are great tanks to have and can make some really promising displays once you upgrade to LED's (my opinion anyway).
