BRS dosing pump, issue or not ?

Received two new pumps today, one seems to be working the fine, the other I'm not sure.

It will drip fine for about 10 seconds, then kind of back siphon for a few seconds before running fine again. This is on the alkalinity, the calcium I believe is working fine, I will have to watch it though, it's scheduled to run in about 20 minutes.

Thanks,

Tim

Here's the video, you can see at the beginning siphon breaks...fine for about 30 seconds, breaks again.

Calcium one is doing same thing...maybe it's the way they work, FYI, the discharge is below the the pump level and the 2 part sit directly below the pump, so it draws in from lower than i discharges.

Mine do the same thing (Ca, Alk and top off). Makes sense if you watch the roller as it completes a cycle. When the roller bar is exactly horizontal, both ends contact the flexible tubing (at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions). As it moves clockwise, the end near 4 o'clock releases the tubing and the fluid on the discharge side sucks back a little bit.

+1. Mine do this as well. My tank is upstairs, and my dosers are in the basement with about 7' of head pressure up to the tank. When the roller hits the 4 o'clock position and releases the tubing, the roller at the 10 o'clock is preventing a true back siphon, you're just seeing the slight suction from the tube physically opening back up at the 4 o'clock release point, and then it will start dripping again as the next roller comes around.

EDIT: Why do you have it running for 20 minutes? Is that all at one time for the whole day? The purpose of the dosers, IMO, is to set it up for multiple smaller doses throughout the day to prevent yo-yo's of your levels......

I meant it is scheduled to run 20 minutes from now. My dosers run for 9 minutes every hour for 12 hours from 7 pm to 7 am. Calcium and alkalinity are offset by 30 minutes.

mine did the same thing and after talking to BRS about it they said it was normal but you will still get the correct ammount out of the pumps.
