Green or Red emerald crab
Hi again,
I just wanted to get some feedback on this choice. Has anyone had experience with red emerald crabs? My LFS has one and I was thinking of picking it up for an addition to my CUC. I just wanted to know if these can be more aggressive then their green counterparts. Thanks for the info! J |

I don't think there's much difference in attitude between the two. When these crabs are young, they are great fun, but when they get larger they have been known to stalk and kill small fish.

i also just recently caught a smaller one eating my zoas. i caught him red (well green) handed eating them. and i know one other person up here that caught 1 of hers eating corals (not sure what corals though)
other than that though they have been fantastic algae cleaners, i think mine jsut ran out of algae. my larger one seems content to keep picking rocks though, no coral or fish stalking *knock on wood |

Fish stalking! That seems like a very interesting behavior. I ended up getting a green emerald instead of the red, but he is the size of a silver dollar. So far he is just settling into the tank and hiding out under the rocks. Hopefully he doesn't eat any coral or stalk fish :/
Thanks for the replies though |

Emerald crabs will eat small fish. Just be carefully.
