Need idea on aquascaping
I ordered some rocks and I have to epoxy them together before I put them in aquarium. I need your opinion if these 2 structures will look good together in tank. I just cant change it after using epoxy.
The brown frame on the floor represents the tank dimensions. is it too much rock and no open space? I really like to have the structure on the right but I have doubts if the one on left fits it. Every imput is welcome. First pic is how my tank currently looks like. Tank is 40B Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2 |

I think both are nice, but would not look good together. They seem like a different style.

How about now?
I understand why do you say lazy. It looks simple but I wanna expose more area to light. What would be your suggestion? I had bonsai aquascape in mind but when I recive the rocks I realized I need to use pvc supports to make it, which I cant do. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2 |

That looks better to me. But on the right pile, I would remove the top rock. And the piece in the middle looks awkward to me.
But whats important is you like it. It may look alot better once corals start growing over it. |

Not bad, B- . I think if you tried to join them -- even with a substrate-level rock, doesn't have to be a 'bridge', just something to unify the two structures, it would look better. I do like the way the rock is away from the glass, it's a great beginning, just needs tweaking.
Also you mentioned you can't do anything with PVC, but what about zip ties? Combined with putty epoxy, you can make some pretty wild structures by tying rocks together, or to a 'core' of eggcrate.

warfanax. I actually like the first set up if you angle the rock formation on the left. Remember as your coral grow your structures will fill out and become more complex. Have you looked at this thread: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2217633? The OP offers some great suggestions, the most helpful being the 5::3 ratio you want to maintain horizontally as well as vertically. Also, to keep as much open sand as possible. Less is usually better!

the new pile on left looks great. I would shift a few on the right so they don't all look like dinner plates

The one on the left looks good but the one on the right, I would ditch IMHO. Looks staged and fake, sorry if it sounds harsh but if you like it you should keep it. There are plenty of styles and opinions in this hobby

Make sure you have enough room to clean your glass too, in my old tank I had one rock that was like 1/16" too close for me to get my magnet by, drove me crazy.
