Brown cloudy water

Hi guys

Just another problem and have tried number of things with no luck.
so out of nowhere I got this cloud of "spilled nesquik" in my tank.
well it's a brown color cloud and I was thinking it was diatoms or some kind of quickly fixable stuff. well, I was wrong, it's been like that for about a week or two.
I have done 3 water changes, I have tried to vacuum whatever I could, but still nothing, also I have replaced filter media, but it became probably even worse (I know it's because of the bacteria from the media) I even went to LFS to test my water which I previously did about 6 times anyway. water is just top notch.
I got this carbon stuff from the LFS which they suggested but still nothing. my tank has been running for a year now with 2 clowns only and recently I put 3x baby Tangs(already mentioning them in another post) the cloud in the water started before I put the other fish in there and it just got worse.
So have anyone experienced this before and what would be the cure.
I got a picture for you and I can say it's ugly. most of the green stuff you see on the pic is actually brown, or brownish. I have moved around the rock so some parts look like bleached and other parts too ugly in contrast.

please HELP

What type of filtration are you running? What kind of substrate is in the tank? How long has your tank been setup?

Are you using tap water or RODI? What are your test results?

hey thanks for replies.

water is RODI and as I mentioned its excellent quality. tested about 6 times past few days, even LFS confirmed it. I use Tahitian moon sand as substrate and its been fine. I have a sump for filtration and never had a problem. Also usin LED lights so there is plenty of light.
so what happened ? anyone ?

thanks

What's the temp of the tank? Looks like a bacterial bloom. Usually can be caused by over heating. Check the temp of the tank, run fresh carbon and do a large water change. Should clear up. If you already did all that and nothing came of it... Do it again. And by water being "top notch" it looks like you have PO4 and NO3 in excessive levels. But, hey! Nothing we can't fix! Goodluck mate and look forward to hearing how your "battle" goes, keep us informed!

Hey,

thanks for reply.

Well water temperature is 25C/77F and is always like that except some hot days it would come to 28C/82F but that's occasional, but it didn't happened past 2 weeks so it should be all good. I did huge water change and it helped to clear a bit but only for a day. I'm already using carbon because I did not before. My water is really good and has been for ages - since day one about a year ago. and no I don't have PO4 - if that's Phosphates and NO3 is not present at all, if we of course talking about same stuff.
I'm always checking for Ammonia, PH, Nitrites, Nitrates and Phosphates and it's always perfect. so I'll do another water change and see.

Thanks

I suppose in this hobby there are at least three different meanings of excellent quality water If you'd tell me that your nitrates and phosphates are at zero, I will still question it. Zero on api nitrate test is not the same zero as salifert low range. Likewise a zero phosphates on salifert is not exactly the same as zero on hanna. So list your numbers and test kits used.

Again, what kind of filtration are you using? do you have a skimmer, fuge, canister, etc?

A UV filter will remove that overnight, 100%.

Are you running GFO? First time I ran it, I didn't rinse it too well. Second time I rinsed better, but not well enough... Then until I got the reactor pump dialed in, I could see a brown cloud after it started (even when I was putting the first little bit out to a bucket and not the tank) Seems like something you would have noticed on your own, but it seemed worth noting...
