Hypo QT update

I've lost about 5 fish now, but the others seem to be doing well and all the spots are gone.

Salinity is at 1.008

I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed in the time it took to help the fish. It's difficult to keep the PH stable, but keeping the salinity at 1.008 hasn't been too bad. It's probably more challenging for me without an ATO on my QT tank, but not hard.

If I had to do it again, I think I would try tank transfer or a therapeutic level of copper and maintain that instead of salinity.

To be quite frank, I thought the hypo would have had a greater impact on the ICH. I wouldn't be surprised if all my time and effort were wasted in the end. I feel I have a 50/50 chance of ICH showing it's ugly face again.

Watching several fish dying while waiting for the hypo to actually start putting pressure on the ICH was a "helpless" feeling and one I NEVER want to experience again.

Hope you guys have better luck than I have with the hypo treatment.

Tried hypo once, and I was very alarmed by the drop in pH after only getting down to 1.016. Now I use Cupramine copper and have found it to be much easier and the fish seem to tolerate it well, they eat normally and everything. Plus I heard stories of people saying the ich came back after using hypo.

Yeah....I wouldn't be surprised. It's more trouble than it's worth IMO.

Problem with copper is that it's poison to the fish... I hate the idea of having to treat ich in general... I thought hypo was supposed to be the easiest approach for the fish (i.e. less stressful)...
