silver in tank
I am trying to find out if someone knows of a coating that I could put on a piece of silver jewelry, that will not affect my fish? Or is it safe to put it in without any coating? Thanks

You shouldn't be putting any metals into your fish tank. It's always going to be a bad idea. If you are talking about a ring you are wearing while you work in the tank, then while it would be best to take it off before you reach in it's probably not going to be any huge deal if you don't.
If you're talking about putting jewelry into a tank permanently, then the only metals that will be safe are 24K gold and pure titanium. Just about any other metal is going to corrode and lead to bad things happening. Anything containing copper or zinc is a huge no-no.

I'll add that silver in particular is toxic to the bacteria that are running your nitrogen cycle. Not a good thing to have in your tank.

Most jewelry is not 100% silver, it is usually 90% silver and 10% copper or some percentage close to that. Putting that into your tank would be a big mistake, even with a coating as it will breakdown over time. Pure gold would be a good alternative, although a bit more expensive.

Maybe just set it on or near your tank.

you could get some 2 part acrylic and make a mold so that the divers helmet is totally encased in an arcylic cube.
