Basement sump question
So, we're finally getting back to putting together our 40B system after having everything sit and collect dust for a while. Hopefully some folks can give me some guidance here...
We've got a 2 door stand that will hold a 20L for a sump, but I was thinking it would be great to actually have the sump downstairs. The thing I'm concerned with is that the sump would end up in the same room where my wife does hair on the side (perms and coloring). It would be on the opposite side of the room so I wouldn't worry about anything getting in the sump directly, but some of the stuff she does, like perms, really stink the place up. She is also occasionally spraying stuff like hairspray down there. So.... anyone know if I should worry about that hair stuff getting into the system via an open-topped sump? We can always put the sump under the stand, but maintenance and water changes would be soooo much easier if it were downstairs. Thanks! Mat

It is very nice to have all the room you need for your sump. It does cost a little more in energy to pump the water upstairs and also heat the water due to the cooler basement.
