Sump with Skimmer plan.
Hello everybody,
I want to run this by you to get a general consensus on this sump refugium plan of mine for my first tank. I want to save money by doing some of the leg-work for my sump, and I found this kit on ebay that comes with baffles to the size of my tank (http://www.ebay.com/itm/20-GAL-H-REF...item2a2957c11b). Does this seem like an okay product? The skimmer I plan on getting is the Tunze Comline DOC Protein Skimmer 9004 - because it looks really simple to install and operate, and it saves space for my 20 Gal High sump. Would these two products complement eachother? The Tunze skimmer needs like 8.5" - 9.5" of water level to operate but the baffles I am looking at has a set water level of 9.25". Will the water on the input side stay right at 9.25" and fluctuate on the return and refugium side? If so that would be awesome and I could move on with this, but if the water on the input side drops from evaporation, I would have to constantly be adding bits of water at a time to not let the skimmer burn out. BTW my DT is a 40 Gal breeder I found. PS - If you have any other ideas (I'm trying to not break the bank) that would work better, please let me know! |

Also - if there is a skimmer that works well in-sump for under $175 for a 40-50gallon system, please make recommendations!
