How many returns?

I am moving my sump and overflow box from the middle to the side for easier access and aesthetics. I currently have two return lines split by an inline scw. Is one line okay on the same side as the overflow? 125 gallon tank (converting to reef).

Can you aim the return line so that it flows away from the drain? If you can and provided you have enough flow, that should be okay I'd think.

Assuming you have additional powerheads for water movement, there is no problem with all your flow coming from a single source next to your overflow. It may however deliver so much single point flow that you have difficulty in keeping the flow from kicking up your sand bed.

I have return lines that come out of the overflow and it works out fine. I have them aimed to create surface agitation to help with gas exchange (not so much that they splash but ripple the water). Also help prevent any scum from forming on the surface. obviously I have Powerheads for main DT flow.

hope this helps

When your returns are in your overflow box do your make a 'U' with lok line over the box or can you drill the box and put a bulk head in with a nozzle out of it?
