new gifted anenome
Hey folks, so i just got this gift pictured below. any idea what kind of nem it is?
it is whit/ almost see throught with neon green tips on its tentacles. this is my first anenome. my african clown hasnt really had a chance to notice it yet, but hopefully will host it. so besides my what kind is it question i do have more. I acclimated it with a drip for an hour and a half. placed it carefully on the sand bed. he only moved over an inch or so and placed his base in a slight rock crevis. he hasnt moved in two hours so im hoping he found his spot. I just have a lighting and feeding question. my normal light cycle is 10 hours of 10000k leds( a strip of 52 1 watt, and a strip of 32 1 watt) then 2 hours of the (spelling wrong) acentics(the blue ones) then darknedd as the sump led light is on. tonight i am going to leave the blues on till morning. Is this an ok light cycle for this nem? after recieving the nem and acclimating him and placing him in tank i see that he never closed up( which i hope is good) i can just barely see his mouth through the tentacles. I was advised to feed him chopped silver sides. when shall i start to feed? i was thinking he would close up for a few days then find his spot and get comfortable. However he is looking pretty content after only a few hours. Anyway i am rambleing, any feed back would be greatly appreciated 90 gallon fowlr ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate <5 phosphate<.5 ph 8.1-8.2 dkh between 9-10 1 african clown 4 green chromis cuc coral banded shrimp |

He looks a little bleached which might not be a good thing (could also be the photo), keep an eye on it so it doesn't foul your water should he die. Having a dead anemone sucked into a powerhead is not a good thing to have happen. Hard to say about the lights, some require VERY strong lights and some no lights at all. Most species avaliable in the hobby do want medium to strong lights.
You can just dangle a piece of raw shrimp or fish around it's tentacles, if it wants to eat it will grab it. Also, tell your friend to stop giving living animals as gifts! |

That is a condylactis anemone. Needs good lighting, and feeding (I recommend mysis) . When it is happy it will turn brown. The white coloration is from lack of proper lighting.

Since last night he found a new spot, nicely wedged between two rocks. I guess my main lighting question is more geared to a time schedule.should tge nem have 24 hour lighting? Or is my dark period ok?
Thank you again. |

24 hours is never good. A normal 8-10hrs should be fine.
