help with coral identification and tank placement ...
Well i am starting to put in corals and fish i am in over my head ...
I ordered 3 ai sols w/ vega controller(should be here tomorrow) I put in some corals and am not sure where to find the information about each coral and what they like .... also what do i need to test my water ... ?? kits I have a hanna checker for phosphate I could use some help with placing these corals ... my 150 gallon tank (with T5 lights)- soon to be ai sols 1. Green Bubble placed in middle of tank bout 24" from lights - seems happy 2. ? name Placed 18" from lights 3. ? name Placed 18" from lights 4. ? name Placed 18" from lights 5. ? name Placed 12" from lights 6. ? name of both corals Placed bottom off tank on sand 30" from lights 7. ? name Placed 15" from lights |

#2 is a bad pic, but it looks like a pink Stylophora, moderate light and moderate to strong flow.
#5 I believe is an encrusting Gorgonian. Touch it and see if it recedes into just a plain mat. Take it off the rockscape and put it in it's own island, otherwise it will encrust that whole rockscape. It can even smother live coral by encrusting it. I know, I have one. #7 I agree is a war coral. red and green brain, Favites, pentagonia As far as researching, there are several books you can purchase. The one I like currently is by Eric Borneman: "Aquarium Corals, Selection, Husbandry, and Natural History". You can also go online at the multiple vendors and look up the coral. I like Liveaquaria.com.
