Question Voltage regulator

Is there an in-line voltage regulator for recirculating pumps? I have a pump that's a little too strong but at the same time, a smaller pump is not enough.

I think most pumps have DC motors in which case I don't think you can regulate the speed like you suggest. This is why controllable wave pumps cost so much.

Right concept but wrong word - most aquarium pumps are AC, which is "hard" to control.

I'm not sure what is meant by "recirculating" in the original post. If this is an external pump, put a valve on it and adjust at will. If it's a prop-style powerhead, get a different one or change it's positioning. I suppose you could block the outlet or inlet with mesh to reduce the output, too...

I meant a recirculating pump within the main tank.
