Eating my words. This eshopps started to pull!
I can't explain it but it's pulling all of the sudden. the bubbles aren't milky thick, but obviously this thing is balanced.. crazy. 24 hours of skim.. fishless live rock holding tank..

I recently purchased one for the upgrade I'm helping my GF with (20H to 40B + 20H sump). It seems kinda finicky. When I strapped it on the back of her 20 to test it out, it bubbled like you wouldn't believe. It actually pushed the lid off of the collection cup! I brought it to the LFS, and it ran fine on their tanks, so I'm guessing it's just collected surfactants from lack of surface skimming. We'll see how it performs hanging on the sump, but I'm encouraged to hear that it's working for you.

I can't stress enough, remove the black foam sponge. It will get clogged and quickly and flood the cup and if you drain it into a small container, fill it and keep going...
I know... I had one running, still have it, and no black foam sponge. People forget this and fail to clean it every other day... It can and will happen...

Key words there. Crappy pumps and all, but it will skim. A balanced skimmer will always outperform a skimmer with too much/little air to water volume pushed through the body. I like the full body design, very much like Reef Dynamics. Here is a pic of my old PSK-100 and 150.

I have the same one. If I remove the sponge the water level is right at the first blue line- from the bottom up. I have the pipe twisted so the dot is facing the front of the tank.
Any way to get the level up other than choking off the air with a valve? |
