need opinions on a food mix
I just mixed up some food for my tank. It consisits of a bag of seafood mix(shrimp, clams, mussels, octopus and squid) nothing else added, a box of emerald entree, a box of spirolina formula, and a box of Instant Ocean Cyclo-eeze all mixed together in a food processor then laid flat in a gallon freezer bag and frozen. it makes a cube about 1/4 " thick and the entire zize of a gallon bag. Think this is a good mix? I usually cut it into 1/2 cubes and give one plus a mysis shrimp cube to my 125 gallon mixed reef tank once a day. I have a yellow tang, a foxface,a cleaner wrasse,a pajama cardinal, 2 maroon clowns, a coral beauty,2 diamond gobies and a 16" engineer gobie,2 cleaner shrimp and various hermits and a few snails. Please give me your opinion on this..It costs me about $20 to make this mix and it lasts almost 5 months

It looks good, not too much different than what I do. I don't use the frozen stuff and always use fresh. Look at the country of origin on the bag of mix and look at the ingredients, if it says China or lists any chemicals at all then I would avoid it. I avoid the China food simply because their quality control is horrendous and since they do not recognize our quality standards there is no trust in what they package for food intended for export.

no i looked to make sure the mix is all natural with no slat or chemicals added, It's out of the caribeean..I am from florida so fresh sea food is abundant. I use the frozen food as filler and also when it thaws it is small enough for corals and Mushrooms to eat! I also give them a pinch of flake in the afternoon. And my 6" foxface is the first to eat always, why he is almost 3/4 on an icnh wide...LOL

I wouldn't worry then. I have seen those packaged mixes for years and noticed the country of origin changes frequently.
