What are my fish doing??

Everyone has abandoned their homes over the last 2-3 days, and moved up to the top right corner to sleep.

My clowns were hosting a rock with a coral on it that didn't make it. The coral went; they stayed. But all of a sudden they decided to sleep in the corner at night and during the day they go down and host that rock.

My Fox always intrudes on my other fish, I guess he's lonely without a buddy. But he had a home, too, in a little cave I made especially with him in mind, and now he's up in the dang corner with the clowns. He lived in that little cave of his for the year I've had him.

Clowns without a host are well known for liking upper corners mine sleep at very top corner near a mag float. Other fish might just be joining in. Otherwise it could be a lot of things like lack of oxygen or a predator in the lr. Sounds to me like the clowns doing what lots of clowns do and the other fish joining is the unusual part, but likely just a reaction to the change in behavior of the clowns. If they don't seem stressed I wouldn't be concerned. If they seem unhappy, I would look first at the other ideas I mentioned and go from there. If it was a bunch of fish aside from clowns I would bet on a predator, maybe a crab that got bored of being reef safe. Happy reefing!

There shouldn't be any predators, i don't have any crabs, just snails.

And the Fox has always been a weirdo. I'll be trying to take video of my tank, and he'll slowly creep in front of the camera, and just stare at you. Occasionally, when my clownfish are sitting in their rock house, He'll creep in behind them and just chill in the background. Scares the crap out of the clowns, they go flying when they notice him.

Dang weirdo, but it's funny.

My clowns and one of my Chromis sleep in the corner mid-level. They go almost vertical into the corner. Funny.

What size tank is this, and do you have adequate surface agitation? It's very common for oxygen levels in our tanks to drop when the lights go out (since all the surface algal film that produces oxygen via photosynthesis in the light no become oxygen consumers), especially if the tank doesn't have adequate surface water movement.

So, it's possible that you fish are sensing a drop in oxygen levels and maybe moving to an area nearer the surface to take advantage of higher oxygen levels.

I was thinking the too, the surface of the water looks perfectly flat if I'm looking at the picture right.

The angel isn't in the tank anymore.
That's what the set-up looks like for the jets, the one on the right is where it is because the cords don't reach the power strip.

I would say you need to agitate the top of the water more I have one ph that aims specificaly at the top of the water to agitate it. Just a thought.

I will try that. I never really knew you had to agitate the water. I figured just having the pumps running was enough to aerate.

Aggitating the surface is how gasses and O2 are exchanged. It also helps your PH remain stable if you have PH issues.

I haven't had any problems with pH. Last I checked my high ranged pH was 8.2-8.3

Take a 2" section of PVC about 5 inches long and put in the bottom.

Even go and get a 2" elbow.

They love to get in there and hide/protected.

Well they have the rock they are hosting. The second I turn on the lights the bolt for it, it's only at night when they're sleeping that they sleep in the corner.
