Which brand of wave making pump did you buy or planning to buy?
As the title stated which brand of wave making pump did you buy in the past 60 days or planning to buy in the near future?
Please state your reasons of pros and cons.

If you want simplicity reliability and a nice wave. IMHO then a wavebox by Tunze can not be matched. Now if you want controlability as well and have a controller that can do 1-10vdc signal then go with Tunze powerheads however programming a wave can be a challange. I have both the powerheads for random flow and the wavebox for the wave.

Simon, the poll is a good idea. It would be interesting to try this again in 6 or 9 months and see if the Jebao pumps have taken a better foothold in the market share.

I have 3 Jebao WP-40's and love them. Finally a controllable powerhead that isn't ridiculously overpriced! Looking forward to the WP-25's

I just bought Hydor evolution 1400's no less than 2 weeks ago, for my 120
(down graded from a 450 to a 60 and now to a 120, don't ask LOL) they are not controllable, rattle for a good second+ on start up so loud that my fish jump and dart for cover! I contacted hydor and was told they click, can you say great customer service and communication? NOT! I am putting my order in for a Jebao next week once I get paid I refuse to pay the ridiculous price of a vortech and I think people who pay almost retail for a used vortech are nuts! |

I've bought a tunze and I will probably buy another for my frag tank although I may try the smaller jaebo. i voted for tunze because thats what I bought. Reliability and noise were my main criteria. I've not had much luck with koralia and a few others. My tunze have been bulletproof.

I been eyeballin' them Vortechs. Mainly for coolness factor and I see them in alot of YouTube Videos of tanks like I want mine to be. I got them in my budget. But I may get something else. It's not engraved in stone. With these controllers (ProfiLux, etc.) I think you can do the same thing, with controllable units, anyways.

I have 4 ecotech's and absolutely love them. I am gonna give the WP40/25 a shot though as I'm gonna be ordering the 40 this week and a 25 when released. Might have to buy 2 40's for the 100 gal and a reef angel .

If the Jebao doesn't work out (no harm no foul, its cheap) then I will get tunze's. As of right now I am using Koralias and they are sub par and get the job done.

i went with the duo JBJ setup, its somewhat new, but the heads give a very wide gentle flow.
http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_viewit...FQVU4Aod1XIACA i wish they were a little stronger, i think the GPH is highly exagerated, but i gotta admit that the motion in my tank looks fantastic with these. |

Thank you to those who voted in this poll. It didn't get to my target of 100 voters but 87 is close enough.
This poll is forward looking as the title is asking people not only what they had purchased in the past 60 days but also future purchase preference. Although the sample size is small but I think it gives a fairly good presentation of future purchasing pattern in the coming months. It is not surprised to see the strong and equal perference of Ecotech and Tunze products given their features, quality, and excellent customer support. The Jebao product, despites having only one available model and with little to no advertisement, has garnered a lot of interest in a very short time. Manufacturers of wave makers should take notice of this short term purchasing pattern or preference and not wait 6 to 9 months to take action. Continue to improve and innovate their products and offer them at the lowest possible pricing are the key to stay in the market and competition. This will be a win-win for all of us.

I am waiting for my 2 WP-40's. Hopefully the quality last but this would not be the first time that I have wasted money in this hobby.
I went with them since I wanted more flow in my tank and will not spend $300+ on a power head no matter how cool they look. Their cost was the most attactive thing and following the enormous thread has given me some confidence that this will pan out. Jebao has been in the pump business for some time and they should know what they are doing at this point. I have a pump for a water feature used in my rock garden that I have had for 6 years from Jebao. Did not pay attention to that until last weekend when I was in the garage and noticed that. Simon, the company name is not Jebo and it can be confusing to some since that company has a terrible reputation. They have been around as a pump manufacturer for some time and it is not fair to them to associate them with Jebo. Please correct that in the poll. |
