RO/DI System
It's coming to be about that time, stand is almost done, Silicone on sump is drying, fitting pipes in, soon to be leak-testing and getting rock and sand in and I am going to need to get myself an RO/DI system.
I was looking at BRS and they have so many models ranging from $129 to $400. I want one that does a good job but doesn't break the bank. I was thinking of the 4 stage $169 or 5 stage $199 system but is it worth it to get the $279 system? I live in an apartment so it needs to be fairly manageable in size. And I don't want to get a crappy cheap one and have to upgrade later. But the more I spend on the RO/DI system the longer i have to wait to get rock and sand. |

I got a 6 stage from pure water club only replaced the filters once in 3-4 years never once had a problem with it. I make approximately 70 gallons of water a week. Save some money all the companies use the same plastic fittings, hose and canisters, etc. just my 0.02.
By the way I paid $98 for mine shipped 4 years ago. lol worth every cent. |

I wouldn't say any of the BRS are crappy. I have the BRS 4 stage and love it.. I personally think any more than 4 stage is excess. I would go with a quality 4 stage and sink more into skimmer/sand/live rock. After all if you're getting 0 TDS what more can u ask for?

I agree the 4 stage will be plenty good.
As for the pure water units i would stay away from them, i used to own one and a year latet the houseings cracked and water all over the place. And also you should at least change the carbon and sediment filters every 6 months no matter what your tds reading is as it will start getting bacteria.

I am also in an apartment and am very happy with my 5 stage from SpectraPure, however I started with the 25gpd membrane, and later spent another $45 upgrading to a 90gpd and new flow restrictor. I have a thread about easily hooking it up under your sink in a non-permanent way so when you move out, you leave no traces behind.

Thats an interesting thought... you could saddle clamp the washer's source line since when you move, you'll likely take that line with you (provided the washer is yours...), and could just drop the waste line into the drain... I never thought of that, and now you have me contemplating it.

I configured my own with their rodi builder. I waited for the group buy but in the end it was more economical for me to build my own lol
I saved money by just choosing what was my requirement. I set it up like their deluxe 6 stage but about $50 cheaper since I skipped on the volumizer. |
