Red Sea Pro Instructions
So I decided to read the instructions to something for once and it says NOT to mix for more than 4 hours aerated or something like this. I have my salt mixing 24/7 to keep it fresh. Can anyone chime in on why it says this? I'm thinking maybe because of a change in salinity???

If you go to the website they have a video that explains why.

Didn't see it...whats the reasoning? The standard red sea salt directions say mix until dissolved.

more u mix it more heat is produced due to pumps and heat causes alk precipitation.
if u mix it for few hours then stop the pump u will find alk at higher end 12dkh. if u let its mix check it a day or 2 later alk will drop to 9 or so.

Is this just with the Red Sea pro or would this apply to all salt mixes?

I use RSCP and only mix it for like an hour, after that it goes right in the tank. I used to keep fresh saltwater on hand at all times, but then I'd get a lot of precipitate on the sides of the container, now I just keep 5 gallons of ro/di water handy for water changes since it takes so little time to dissolve anyways.

heat will precipitate alk in all salts.

Good to know...I was also under the impression that it had to be mixed for hours based on pop opinion. Brown residue was all over the bottom of my brute...I guess thats my missing alk. Maybe not a bad idea with RSCP though since it's so hi in alk.

any salt with high alk should be not have a heater on at all times or pumps circulating all the time. procedure should be . have ro/di water fill in the bin then turn ur heater or chiller on make temp 77F then turn the heater/chiller off. then mix salt. run the pump for 4 hrs then turn all equipment off.

Won't it heat up in your tank, once you put it in there it will be getting mixed? Or does the rest of the tank water delute it down enough that it don't?

It happens in our tanks too but in tank there are lot many other factors involved.
