I have a 40 breeder saltwater tank. Would this be way overkill?
Also I turned it on, seems to work great! Then about 2 minutes later it turned off by itself. The first 2 times I unplugged it then plugged it back in. 3rd time I let it go and about 2 min later it came back on! Is this normal? I read it might b purging air? I hope so!
I cannot believe I just got this so cheap!

Yep, thats normal. They are supposed to purge themselves of air. After intitial start-up, and at least once every day it will shut itself off......then back on.
Great score ......... those things are beasts. I remember seeing one for the first time. Thing was about the size of a 5 gallon bucket. Like 900gph too.

Hahaha! That's ok. I felt like I was robbing him!

It seems a bit noisy. Kind of a grinding? I might take the motor off again and clean it better. Hope that helps w the noise. Right now I have it running into a 5 gal bucket
