Reactor recommendations

I'm thinking of trying out Dr Tim's NP-Active Pearls, but to do this I need a reactor. I've never used a reactor before so I have no idea what to look for in one.

Any advice / recommendations appreciated!

(The recommended dose of NP-Active Pearls is ¼ cup per 20g and I have a 144g with 30g sump... if that helps!)

after all my research I'm asking for some next reef reactors as they seem to be VERY nice build quality

Yup thanks, eying one up now... mmmm it looks pretty and blue! Does anyone have a good reason for me not to impulsively buy one...?

Take a look Reef Dynamics bprs and the new Octopus reactors. Both cost a little more but they are recirculating. This makes them easy to dial in and adjust. Not as much worry with overstripping your tank.

I was looking at the reef dynamics too. Seems like the control would be worth the little extra if you like to keep a little nitrates in the tank. Anyone have it??

Seconded. I purchased this recently to run GFO, and I love it. Very reasonably priced given the quality.

I like the two little fishies 150 reactor that I have too. They both work just fine. I like that the TLF reactor comes with a ball valve.

Ive got the bpr 135, but I havent installed it yet. Its going on a new build. I know AZ Johnny has one and swears by it. He went through several different bprs before the Reef Dynamics so maybe he will chime in on why he likes it more than others.

I'm using a JNS Alpha 1 reactor and am very happy with it. Another good reactor with similar design is the Aquamaxx reactor. The AM can be ran externally as well.
What ever you do, save yourself and don't use a TLF for biopellets. I was using a Mag5 to get a decent tumble in my TLF 550 reactor with 1l of pellets.

Memontgo, I purchased a BPR-135 from Reef Dynamics about 5 weeks ago. So far, so good. The nitrates are finally starting to drop. I was at about 80 ppm and now down to about 40 ppm. Still a ways to go, but the unit itself is really solid.
