How on earth did you spend 1100 on diy for a 90

I hear about most people getting DIY for like 300.

Out of curiosity, did you use any violets (400-430nm) in your DIY led system?

There's enough LED's and drivers in that price for a 300DD. Five colors, each of which are fully controlled through the Apex. When I bought them LED's were a little more expensive than they are now. With three heatsinks, fans, drivers, heatsink mounting for the drivers, wiring, optics, suspension hardware, etc, yes, it's a little below $1,100. The LED's alone are over $600.

I have the near-UV violets (390nM (?) 12 plus 2 spares), but never got around to adding them.

CREE XR-E RC lot LED's, except the violets and reds, which are Luxeon Luxdrive. Heatsink-epoxied to aluminum heatsinks, 300mm fans on the heatsinks.

Is this question just for your knowledge? SPS mortality has nothing to do with the lack of violet LEDs. There are plenty of successful SPS tanks using just blue and white LEDs. Intensity, optics, drivers, LEDs manufacturer, etc are more likely the cause, LEDs are more complex than other types of lighting.

to the OP

Keep us updated with your results, ATI fixtures are great. DO you have any before and after pics?
