whats the point of this (plumbing)
On the overflow pvc pipes, why is teed off and then capped as soon as the water gets taken in? Is it so air doesn't stop the flow and become noisy? Also do i need to drill the cap?

That is a Durso standpipe, it quiets the drain. Should be a small hole in the cap to let air escape.

Also read about Herbie overflow or if you have three holes then read about beananimal overflows before you start! Both are dead silent and do not produce bubbles.

I use a Beananimal overflow and it's rock-solid and silent.
