diablo 10500
I bought a diablo 10500 pump last week and hooked it up this weekend. I was a little taken back with the wattage used. 500 watts (4.1 amps) was what it was reading off of my kill a watt. It is pumping about 10 feet up to my tanks. I haven't figured out if this thing is suppose to be 85 watts how am I pulling 500 watts or is that 85 watt figure only for 4 ft or less of head pressure? I emailed the company I bought it from but since I have not heard from them I thought I would ask and see if somebody has an idea why it is using more power than my reeflo marlin. I had the pump hooked up for a little over an hour trying to dial it in to see if I could get the power usage down. After an hour I gave up and put the marlin back in. On the plus side it is a lot quieter than the marlin, especially upstairs.

There is no way it's 500 watts. Mine is about 85. Unless you have a faulty pump I think you are reading it wrong.
