So do I need a skimmer ?

So I have a 60 gall tank I am setting up and do not have the cash right now for a skimmer and I have not ever had a tank with out one. ? I am going to have a sump and a refuge. So do I need one. ?

You dont ever need to have a skimmer but they make it so much easier to maintain the tank Imo. You will prob have to do more water changes though to keep the levels good

IMO, a skimmer is not required, but as shifty said, it makes tank maintenance easier. Just do slightly larger water changes to compensate for it. There have been plenty of successful tanks that have been run skimmerless. When you're ready to shop for skimmers take a look at Reef Octopus or RLSS.
