Fu Manchu lion fish

What do we all think about them I was thinking of getting one but unsure about having it with a community tank with coral, please help me :-)

Lionfish are ambush predators, anything that swims near them and can fit in their mouth is in jeopardy of being consumed.

I don't have any fish that are that small but maybe I should just keep to my nice fish

Seems like it will eat peppermint and red line shrimp if there small enough?

It will essentially eat anything it can get it's mouth around that moves. If you keep it really well fed it might leave the other livestock alone, but it's a gamble. It also poses the problem of ending up with nutrient rich water as they are messy feeders, eat a lot, and poop a lot. IIRC, your tank is 100 gallons correct? That might help mitigate the pollution from a small lionfish. Personally, though, if you want a mixed reef, I wouldn't chance it.

Yer was thinking that because I may want some smaller colour fish who don't promote much ammonia at all just too liven it up in there

the words community tank and lion fish do not go together and as the others have said it will eat anything it can fit it its mouth.
