Neptune Apex Aqua Controller

Is this controller worth getting or is it a waste of money? I want many different views so feel free to indulge in the conversation!

Lots of pros/cons on the Apex, and other controllers in the "equipment" subforum. Do a search and you'll find plenty of reading material.

With that said, though, I'll offer a few thoughts.

1. I have an Apex and I'm 100% happy with it. Knowing what I know now, if I had a chance to remake my decision to buy it, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

2. All controllers out there pretty much do what they say they can do. Some do it easier than others, and some of the companies have better customer service than others. If you think you want a controller, do your research and don't make an impulse buy.

3. Don't start out in the hobby using a controller. Learn how to make your tank run without one. This is really important, in my opinion. At some point, like all things electronic, your controller will crash, break, or not work quite right. When that happens, you'll need to know how to take care of your tank. I'm always surprised to see the posts on forums that more or less go: "AAARRRRGH!! My *&^$% controller just died. It's keeping my heater turned on and my lights wont turn on! Stupid thing! Someone help me NOW NOW NOW. My tank is crashing! It's 94 degrees! HELP." Learn how to manage your tank FIRST. Then worry about controllers.

Clinton7... read through that, and you'll see that research and education are your friend BEFORE you buy and setup a controller!
