Mixed color Reefbrite for shimmer?

I currently have a 36" 4x39watt ATI Sunpower and a RB Reefbrite strip. I'm missing the shimmer that I had with halides. I was told that an additional mixed white/blue Reefbrite strip should add some shimmer. Do you all think this will be the case with the ATI T5's that I have?

I thought about adding a Kessil A150 just for the shimmer, but don't want to kill the the clean modern look that I have going. Thoughts on that?

The tank is LPS dominant with a sprinkling of SPS so high lighting is not a priority.

Here is what I have at this point for lighting.

Honestly I have two of the all blue reefbrite LEDs and it's not going to replace the shimmer that was put off with metal halides. The blue and white mix might but I haven't had any experience with those.

That's a beautiful stand that you have. Can you take a few more pictures of it? Did you have it custom made or make it yourself? Beautiful work

Thank you for the response. I realize that I could never match the shimmer of a halide with a reefbrite. I'm mainly just looking for a "little" shimmer.

Thank you for the compliments on the stand. My Dad and I built it about 11 years ago. Here are some better pictures.

I have a 24+ strip with 3W Crees (I think reefbrites are 1W?) and it cannot overpower my 4 bulb T5 (not ATI). No real shimmer unless its just the LEDs on.

My LFS has a 240 with 2 x 6 bulb T5s over it. They added 48 x 3W Cree Reef Blue and Royal Blue chips (alternating) on a strip that spans the 8 foot tank. That tank does shimmer when all lights are on so mixing some "brighter" chips may work for you.

Nice tank BTW. I am really glad you posted that pic. I was wondering if you could mount a LED strip to an ATI fixture. I was worried the weight of the bar would tip the fixture from be off center weight wise.

Thank you for this info. The idea of using higher wattage LEDs makes sense. I may build a strip along the back of the sunpower using 3w Crees. That way it will be brighter and hidden away since it would be a DIY. Thanks for the help.

Late response, but I added a 4' XHO Reefbrite 50/50 to my 4' 4 bulb t5 and there is a nice shimmer going on in the tank with all lights on. I think you would be very happy with it.

By the way Reefbrites are 3 watt leds but not run at a full 3 watts supposedly to prolong life. They are very bright though and easily reach the bottom of a 24" deep tank.

I have a RB 50/50 on a Tek Elite you get the shimmer with two bulbs on and some with 4 bulbs on.
