Where to buy from

Where and who has the best livestock and prices?

Where do you all buy your livestock from. Mostly looking for fish and Anemones.

Reefing is'nt how long you been in it. It is how deep you get in it.

Current Tank Info: 400g display build, 300g sump, 75g ATO, 75g refug and a few more. Close to a 1000g. 200g mixing station.

I buy livestock locally. Best prices will be from a local Club and from other hobbyist.

I'm assuming you mean online? I'm curious about this as well. I have 1 local mom 'n pop shop that carries only the most standard fare regarding fish (ocellaris clowns, bluetail damsels, chromis, and sometimes a mandarin dragonette or some type of goby - these usually die), almost no coral, and only turbo snails and zebra hermits. There's no local club, and I don't know anyone in my area close enough to get livestock from except craigslist, and that's a gamble too. So.... what about those online shops?

Liveaquaria.com is great so is Vivid Aquariums. They both offer a 14 day guarantee.

I bought almost every fish in my tank at LiveAquaria.com with excellent luck. Healthiest online fish IMO. If the fish dies (very rare for me), you get your money back with no questions asked. I have found their technical support lacking though. Check out their Divers Den section for Anemones. It gets updated every day and they have some awesome colors.

BlueZooAquatics.com I've also had good luck with for fish. Technical support is one of the best out there.

All my fish come from the LFS. For most of them, the LFS already ordered them and has had them in his tanks for at least 2 weeks. Some I special ordered through him, and brought them home still in their original shipping bag. It all depends on your LFS. My LFS swears by his wholesaler, and if I don't like how the special ordered fish looks for any reason, he will keep it and re-order me another. No fish losses at all doing this, prices are better than LiveAquaria with their shipping costs, and I get to see the fish before purchase.

Ditto, but my LFS salt section is run by one of the top dogs in the hobby, so it's a no brainer.

best place for sure is your LFS but liveaquaria is one of the BEST online! you can also look at reefs2go but i have only bought a small CUC from them and they packed and shipped good. You never know how live stock and coral will do while shipped. Anything can go wrong when shipped

I just bought 3 aussi gold torches from marine depot live, all 3 died in 48 hours.

So I don't recommend marine depot live.....

Reefs2go is great for inverts or live food. Absolutely horrid for fish and anemones, they have a good 14 day policy with pictures. they have a strict company policy to ship with minimal water for fish and anemones ( to save on shipping) but this often means they ship anemones half in water half out and fish are often times left with so little water that they are doa. I always hear good things about dr's fosters and smith
