RO/DI Fitting Question

I'm doing a tune up on my RO/DI unit. I have a Coralife 50gpd 4-stage unit. I am in the process of adding a pressure gauge, a flush kit, & a dual in-line TDS meter. I'd like to replace the compression fittings with the John Guest speed fittings. Does anybody know what the standard size fittings are for the intake tube and the return lines?

Good luck finding the John Guest fitting. I went to Lowes, HD, and Ace along with a couple of local stores. All of them looked at me like I was an idiot even after I showed them pictures. Ended up ordering it online.

Seriously? All 3 of those stores have fairly big displays of them here. They may not know them by the name 'john guest'. Ask for "1/4" quick release fittings like the ones that get used on reverse osmosis systems" and you'll probably get better results. I'd never heard of them as john guest fittings until I started in this hobby. And I'd been doing plumbing for 10 years before that.

Agree with Ron. Every hardware store that carries plumbing parts around here has them.

I found some at Ace Hardware actually. I was just curious on the fitting size for the main intake tube going into the RO unit. Thanks for the feedback everyone! Greatly appreciated.

Actually, I have this unit. Everything is 1/4" EXCEPT the Yellow intake, which is 3/8", FYI.

John Guest is a brand name, it has nothing to do with Aquarium Hobby. It is in fact a plumbing thing.

Right, but I have never seen the term "John Guest" fittings until this hobby and have seen it nowhere else as far as mainstream stores. In the stores, they are called "1/4" quick disconnects".

I used to work in construction management, and John Guest fittings were something that we came across here and there. I was actually surprised that the aquarium trade even used them, specifically. "1/4 quick disconnnects" or whatever the measurement is would be the correct name of course, just as facial tissue can't be called Kleenex in a store if it's not Kleenex, but anyone in a grocery store would know what you were talking about anyway.
