HOB overflow
Reaaly wishing now I went with a RR tank and sump. Are the lifereef overflows as good as they say? Are they any better or worse than any of the others or are they all just a disaster waiting to happen? Thanks

I have used my Lifereef for two years and have never had it fail to restart. I trust it.

Now where did you hear that HOB overflows were a disaster waiting to happen? This is the kind of misinformation that gets spread when someone decides that one style (reef ready) is the only way to go, let me quell your fears, I have used HOB overflows EXCLUSIVELY for 19 going on 20 years without one problem & that is no exaggeration, never lost a siphon, never had a leak, never been clogged etc. so in fact the only true difference between HOB & plumbed tanks are preference & or aesthetic. Eshopps & Lifereef are 2 excellent brands, I can & will vouch for that.
I would be willing to wager that plumbed tanks are as likely to have issues as the HOB overflows are rumored to. |

I'm using a CPR and works like a charm. No issues as of yet and silent as well.

I am using a CPR and no issues what so ever. Always restarts, even after having the pump off for a week. IMHO drilled tanks are more "dangerous" for the fact so many break while drilling. With proper maintnence, HOB work flawlessly

Another long term HOB user here. No problems at all. Using eshopps with a hoofer gurgle buster. The life reefs are the same design but better quality. I would recommend a U tube hob over one that relies on an aqua lifter but that's just me.
