There's no way to wake up then to be having a night mare and then being scared awake my tanks equipment freaking out and then off. But our house lost power...how long can a 45 gal and a 40 gal last in a power outage idk how long it's going to be out for and I have no way to go get a generator because my car is stuck in a garage that won't open...no I'm laying awake worried about my fish babies!

Please help I've never been threw a power outage since having my fish babies!

Use a spatula and stir the tank every hour or so to get some oxygen into the water.

Take a pitcher, scoop out some water, and pour it back it. Keep doing that so the fish get oxygen.

To expand a little on what wii64brawl said, when you do that, hold the pitcher up 2 or 3 feet so you get some decent gas exchange.

As for the garage, if you look at the door from inside the garage in the very middle at the top of the door is an "L" shaped bracket with a string hanging from it. Grab the handle on the end of the string and pull. That will release the door and you can lift it up manually.

Here you go, this video might help.

Sending good vives for electricity to come back soon! Keep moving that water. Pitcher idea sounds good!

You can wrap the tank in blankets to insulate it from heat exchange as well. Or if you live somewhere hot ice cubes sealed in a bag will help to cool the water.

On a side note your garage door opener should have a quick release mechanism where the door attaches to the slide bar that will disengage the opener so you can manually open the door and get your car out of the garage.
