Fish food sticks to auto fish feeder. Help.
My dt is in my basement which is bit humid.
When I put small pellet food like spectrum in my automatic feeder. ... they get stuck to each other and don't fall into dt. What fish food can I put in feeder when I'm away for few days. ... that won't stick? I'm not particular with size or ingredients since for a few days it shouldn't matter. Thanks Kris

I use a combination of pellets and flake fish food.

Your fish should be fine with no food for a few days, especially if it is an established tank.

But there must be a food type that won't get soft or stick. ....I can't cover the entire automatic fish feeder.

I think freezing the food spread out on a paper towel may help remove moisture and then some ventilation around the feeder like a computer fan to help keep dry or fix the humidity problem.
Reducing the humidity will help more then the fish tank. |

Unless you have non-photosynthetic corals, the light will be sufficient for them. As for the fish, I've gone a week at a time without feeding my fish and I didn't have a refugium on that tank. In fact, when I was fighting a hair algae outbreak, I ONLY fed them once a week and the fish remained fat and I still have most of them after 9 years. That said, I don't have anthias or other fish that are known for needing frequent feeding.
My nano at work only gets food every other day and not on weekends. If I'm going to be gone more than a week, I'll have a friend come in a drop in some food. With all that live rock and the refugium, you probably have plenty of pods for the fish to pick at. |
