55 gallon reef build - ro/di
Starting to collect everything for a 55 gallon reef build. Does anyone have the BRS 4 stage 75gpd value plus setup? Is it everything they say for easy of use, solidity of components, and basically plug and play? Would you buy it again? How often do you have to replace filters, etc?

What's the difference between the full sized one and the 'portable' one? Don't plan on drinking it. Just plan on using it to fill the tank, and do water changes on it, and a second 29g tank.. If I can stuff it away under a sink, and/or hook it up right outside my back door that would be ideal. They both say 75gpd. Is that total output including waste, or total ro/di water?
Can you tell this is all foreign to me? I do research til I get confused, then come here and leech info off others. |

I have the 5 stage 75gpd unit and its wonderful, comes with every fitting you could need for hooking it up permanently or temporary with saddle valves, faucet fitting and fittings for hose spouts, can easily be set up under a sink or anywhere really. I would buy it again In a heartbeat!

I think I'm going to order it today..
The water in my house is treated with a softener. The water outside is not. Would it be better to use the outside water or inside? |

I love mine. I have the same thing. I added a dual TDS meter to mine though. It's a great basic system. Comes with everything you need to hook it up and start making pure water. I would mix your salt water in a 35 gal brute trash can befor putting it into your tank though. It's just a safe practice. If you have salt that gets trapped in your sand it fouls take a few days to totally get absorbed into the tater and could throw off your salt content. It's not hard to correct it later though. Plus if you go out and get a brute for mixing your salt mix then you have a good mixing vessel for your water changes!

While it sounds good in theory, brute trash cans are half my height. My intention is to do 5 gallon buckets in my kitchen, and carry them 15' to my living room. Don't have a sump, and was going to do a hob reef octopus skimmer, and just let my lr be my filtration, since I haven't come across anything that says this won't work..
Right now, the only things I have purchased is the tank, and stand. I haven't even begun to put anything together because I want to paint the back, and can't decide on a color, and I'm still arguing with myself in my head over shallow sand bed or bare bottom, or controlled sand in certain areas... You'll notice I've gotten real far. :/ |

Ok.. This is what I think I decided to go with... (it's still sitting in the cart, waiting for me to checkout...)
If I have plenty of live rock, this should be enough, and I shouldn't need additional filtration, right? http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/reef-o...n-skimmer.html http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-4-...tem-75gpd.html |
