JNS SK2 or RLSS 6 for 90 gallon
Hey everyone. Wanting to upgrade skimmers from my marineland 100 skimmer on my 90 gallon. Tank will be SPS dominated. I have narrowed it down to 2 skimmers the JNS SK2 or RLSS 6i. I can get the JNS for about $75 less than the RLSS 6i but if the RLSS is better I will go for it. I believe the JNS is the same model as Aquamaxx 200.
Main thing is how quiet the skimmer is as it is in my living room. I know some of the larger skimmers have outlet valves that sound like a waterfall and from what I understand, both of these have outlet valves under the skimmer correct? Thanks for your help. |

Both are silent. Cant go wrong with either one. Is the JNS one a new skimmer or is it used?

The sk2 it's the same as the Aquamaxx cone 2 not the em200. The sk2 is a better skimmer for the simple fact that the pump is proven to be silent and last. Rlss wavelines have been going out and their customer service sucks. The shark pumps that the sk2 come with are readily available. I just got the sk2

I have the RLSS 6 and am very pleased. It is silent and powerful. I love the ability to put it in feed mode, or turn the pump down to prevent overflows when I use epoxy in the tank to mount corals.
I think the pump failure thing is overblown. I have 3 of the DC pumps running for 6 months and no problems. I don't doubt that some of them have failed, but I also don't think it is a very high percentage. |

The SK2 is a well balanced skimmer. That would be my choice between the two!

Hi just curious where you were finding the sk2 for $75 less than the rlss. Everywhere I checked online the rlss was less.
If you could shoot me a pm I'd like to purchase one as well! |
