Rinsing sand?

I'm using RO/DI water for the tank but is it ok to rinse the sand with tap water? thanks

I did and it seems to work fine for me. I put the sand in a 5 gallon bucket and shoved the garden hose all the way to the bottom and let it rinse that way

Rinse rinse rinse and rinse some more. I rinsed 40lbs with tap water for hours till the water was crystal clear then I had 10 gallons of rodi as a final slow rinse instead of rodi for the whole rinse which worked really well for me.
