What Return for my 220g?

Heres tank stats,
Bean Animal Overflow with 1.5'' Holes
2x 1'' Returns (3/4" LockLine, 1" Bulkheads)
220g Reef tank
ReefOctopus DCS 250 (~500ish GPH)
Head on the tank 5"

My pump that I have is a Reeflo Dart but I dont really want to use all the energy to run it at like 25% so I am debating using another return to slow down the return to match the skimmer, My question is should I do this and just use a mag 9.5

the mag 9.5 would use ~75 less watts and take up less usable stand space.

You might be short a few gph after 5'of head pressure and 2 returns on your 220. Laguna max flow 1500 should get your tank flowing nice and quiet. You already went with the silent bean setup so you should do your plumbing justice with a quiet pump. Jmo

First things first you don't have 2x1" you have 2x3/4" ........ Run a sicce syncra 5 split to 2x3/4" locklines at minimum

9.5's a heater

Lol yes I know that's why I said I have 3/4" lock line. What do you mean 9.5 is a heater do you mean it generates to much heat?

Yea let it be know that I have always had good luck with mag drive pumps I used a 7 on my 90gal for years. A 12 on my 240 for years and now a 24 on my 240 gal for about 6 months.

I've used several other brands of submersible that really didn't impress me. I have always wanted to try some externals (panworld for example)

All that beings said they do produce a lot of heat. I put a 9 in a 6 gal bucket to circulate it once an in several mins. That water was notably hot.

It's one of the absolute best submersible pumps on the market! It might be the quietest next to red Dragon also. I'm surprised you haven't heard of it. Do a search on RC and you'll see. Btw,make sure you get the stand for it so you can ditch that cage.

I use the flowstar which is a rebranded max flow - absolutely awesome pumps. If you dont need the head pressure you can open up your returns from 3/4 to 1" and you'll get even more flow from them.

Really good internal pumps.
