Leak testing with tap water

I plan on leak testing my pumping from my dual overflows to the wet/dry and back. Wondering if its ok to use tap water since my RO unit is being shipped and will not be here until the end of the week?

I did mine this way. I used water from my hose, leak tested for one day, pumped and dried the water out. After this I filled up with the salt water rocks and live sand.

Good luck

Thanks. Did you run your pump for your filter the whole time?

That is the point of a leak test, to make sure NOTHING leaks. Just remember to drain everything when your done, skimmers and filters hold water you probably don't want mixed in later.

Don't use RO, if you find a leak and need to drain to fix, you have to test again. That would be a lot of "high quality H2O" going to waste. Tap is fine.
